Closed Groups

PREREQUISITE FOR ALL CLOSED GROUPS:
The Basic Communication Workshop unless you have already completed it. You are welcome to repeat the workshop if you wish.

Women's Codependency (women only)
A support group for women dealing with issues of codependency and those addictive compulsive behaviors that make life unmanageable.

Men's Sexual Addiction Group (men only)
This group provides support for men who are dealing with sexual addiction and helping them to live victoriously.

Bondage Breaker (men only)
People want freedom from the addictions and compulsive behaviors that can make life unmanageable. What also holds people in bondage are the hurts and wounds of life and the past. This group will help people find the freedom that they seek. This group is for any man caught in the web of codependency or addiction, regardless of whether it is an addiction to chemicals or anything else.

Experiencing God (co-ed)
For those who want to grow in their relationship with God, who want to do more than just know God, they want to experience Him.

Boundaries (women only)
One of the things that many who struggle with codependency have to contend with is a weakness concerning boundaries. This group will help women gain a greater understanding of boundaries, as well as how to set them and how to protect them.

How to join a Closed Group

Because there is considerable depth to the sharing and the commitment level of participants and facilitators of Closed Groups, there is an expectation of both accountability and follow-through. This would include things such as signing a group covenant, regular attendance, active participation, completing homework and other assignments depending on the type of group. Most groups will remain together for a period of 1-2 years. There will be people transferring in and out as they move through their recovery process.

The following is the typical process for entering a Closed Group:

  1. Regularly attend the open group for minimum of 6 weeks.
  2. Complete the Basic Communications workshop. (Time requirement: Friday evening 7:00-9:30 and Saturday 8:30-4:30)
  3. Complete SSP profile and interview with Pastor Jim Newman.
  4. Pay for books, basic communications workshop and SSP profile. (Cost of $50.00 for Basic Communications plus the cost of the group workbooks. Workbook costs vary from group to group.)
  5. Sign group covenant form.
